Programme:
Johannes Brahms / Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 77
Nicola Campogrande / Io cammino muovendo le dita, for solo violin (2025) Italian premiere
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky / Symphony No. 6, Op. 74 ‘Pathétique’

The new symphonic season opens under the baton of Diego Ceretta, principal conductor of the Orchestra della Toscana.

The star of the evening is Francesca Dego, performing the Italian premiere of Io cammino muovendo le dita for solo violin (2025) by Nicola Campogrande and Johannes Brahms’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 77, one of the most significant works in the Romantic violin repertoire. The juxtaposition of a new solo work and the great nineteenth-century concerto gives the first half a broad and varied programme.

The programme concludes with Symphony No. 6, Op. 74 “Pathetique” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the composer’s final symphony, marked by a powerful expressive intensity and orchestral writing of great dramatic tension.
