Program:
Ludwig van Beethoven/ Piano Concerto No. 3 Op. 37
Luigi Cherubini /Symphony in D major

A programm that brings together two classics of different imprints: the balanced measure of the early 19th century Viennese and the structured energy of the French school.

On the podium will be Diego Ceretta, principal conductor of the ORT, at the centre of a season in which he is the protagonist of numerous appointments.

We begin with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Concerto No. 3 in C minor for piano and orchestra op. 37, written between 1800 and 1803, in a period of transition between Haydnian models and an increasingly personal voice. It is a work of restrained tension, built on the contrast between dramatic impetus and lyrical cantabile.

The solo part is entrusted to Martina Consonni, a pianist from Lombardy already active in important festivals and international halls, a careful and rigorous interpreter, capable of digging into structure and sound with intelligence.

She closes with Luigi Cherubini’s Symphony in D major, composed in 1815. Far from the lightness of Rossini, it is a compact, incisive score, based on a severe language that combines classical counterpoint with the theatrical tension of its author.
