A world premiere: a performance where theater, dance, live music, opera, and contemporary circus interact and intertwine on stage, creating a new work to mark the centenary of the death of Giacomo Puccini, one of the greatest composers of all time. Puccini Dance Circus Opera – for a chorus of bodies and instruments is a project born from a co-production between the Orchestra della Toscana, Compagnia blucinQue, Teatro del Giglio in Lucca, and Teatro Regio in Parma. It brings to the stage eleven women (five performers, a string trio, an electronic musician directed by the stage director, and a conductor), along with an orchestra of 45 musicians, highlighting the characteristics of five female icons from Puccini’s operas: Manon Lescaut, La Bohème, Tosca, Madame Butterfly, and Turandot.
The performance, which was staged on June 24 and 25 at the Caracalla Festival in a reduced version without the orchestra, now makes its debut in ORT’s season in the full orchestral version, with music specially arranged by Francesco Oliveto and performed by the Orchestra della Toscana under the baton of Gianna Fratta.
