Travelling to the Theatre

The Teatro Verdi is located at the very centre of the city, in the historic Santa Croce district. In a few minutes from here and can reach all the most Important monuments and palaces.


The theatre is located within the controlled traffic zone, where it is not possible to enter with a car between 8.00 and 20.00 on weekdays and saturday. Any unauthorised vehicles are photographed by surveillance. For drivers wishing to park outside the controlled traffic zone, please use a car park; the site manager should include your car’s number plate on the city database. Just outside the controlled traffic zone there are three large car parks, owned by Firenze Parcheggi:

  • Piazza Ghiberti (underground, entrance on Via Paolieri) opened H24 – 379 seats, rate from 1 to 2 euro for hour or fraction thereof, access with Telepass (distance 600m. | about 8 minutes walk)
  • Piazza Beccaria (underground, entrance on Viale Amendola) opened H24 – 210 seats, rate 1,70 euro for hour or fraction thereof, access with Telepass (1 km | 12′ walk)
  • Le Murate (at the entrance to Viale Amendola), the unguarded car park (800 m. | 10′ walk)

For the car parks at Piazza Ghiberti and Piazza Beccaria, a ticket can be bought for €4 at the theatre’s ticket office, valid for any 4 hours. Attention: it is necessary to withdraw the ticket to the mullion of entry of the parking lot and not to use the Telepass for power usufruire of I discount him/it. Within the controlled traffic zone there are many privately owned car parks. The main ones are:

All of this is displayed on the map. Cars can also be parked in spaces on the adjacent streets, which are outside the ZTL. However, please remember that spaces marked with white lines are reserved for residents; those with blue stripes are for pay and display parking.
The parking lot traced of blue are to payment every work day from her 8.00 to the 20.00 to exception of the festive ones: 2,00 euro the first time, 3,00 euro from the second hour. The typologies of standstill are suitable from the vertical system of signs on the spot. They are free for the residents or authorized limitedly from 8.00 to the 9.00 and from 18.00 to the 20.00.

Florence’s main station is Santa Maria Novella. However, many long-distance and local trains also stop at Campo di Marte. The theater can be reached in both cases by public transport or on foot.


There are numerous bus stops close to the theatre, run by Ataf, the city’s public transport company. These are all clearly marked on our map.

Tickets can also be bought by sending an SMS to 4880105 (write ATAF for the message text).


Located at the very heart of the city, the theatre is easily accessible by foot. The distance and rough journey time on foot from the following areas is as follows: – Piazza Stazione (1.5 km, 19 minutes) – Campo di Marte station (1.7 km, 21 minutes) – Piazza del Duomo (750 m, 9 minutes) – Piazza Signoria (500 m, 6 minutes) – Piazza Pitti, Oltrarno (1.3 km, 16 minutes) – Piazza S. Marco (1.2 km, 14 minutes) – Piazza Beccaria (1 km, 12 minutes)


There are two taxi companies that operate in Florence: Socota [tel. 055 42 42] and Cotafi [tel. 055 43 90]. Information about fares, journey calculation, and flat rates can be found on either company’s website. Both companies have an app available for Apple and Android, and services on WhatsApp and Skype. During shows, a free taxi-calling service is available, with a steward present at the theatre exit. Payment is only for the journey itself – there is no charge for calling the taxi.


The international airport Amerigo Vespucci is located just outside of Florence. To reach the centre, use either a taxi (journey time of roughly half an hour, with a fixed price of €22) or a shuttle bus service from Bustilia Nord – tel. 800 37 37 60 – which goes to Santa Maria Novella piazza; the journey time is roughly half an hour, and costs 6,00 euro. On weekdays and holidays, buses depart every half hour between 5.00 and 20.00, and every hour between 20.00 and 23.00 (every 60 minutes)

Disabled access

Teatro Verdi’s main entrance (Via Ghibellina 99/R) leads directly to the foyer and to the stalls area, where there are 4 places reserved for non-ambulatory disabled. Ushers are present to assist entrance to the hall and to help finding seats.
